3rd Annual Oscar Superlatives

oscar

Last night the 88th Annual Academy Awards took place…annnnnnd there’s nothing that remarkable to report. As per every year I made a point of watching all the nominated movies in the best picture, acting, and directing categories to prepare myself for Oscar night, and just like every year I realize that my tastes strongly differ from the old, white man opinions that represent the Academy. There are a handful of beautiful men who as youths were hot as hell, but as they’ve aged, wooweee – and I quote the Mask here – somebody stop me! This Friday, let’s flashback together and indulge in some glorious, silver fox, eye candy. Continue reading

Here’s Oscar!

OSCARS 2014

After weeks of being a couch potato and committing wholeheartedly to watching a very long list of films – OSCAR NIGHT HAS ARRRRRRIVED! It’s always been a fun ritual of mine that I most likely take too seriously. As a young, blossoming cinephile I would stay up well past my bedtime to watch as the  shiny gold statues were doled out to glamorous celebrities that I probably didn’t recognize. Now, I carefully plan the categories I’m interested in, learn as much as I can about the films and their actors, and form my own *humble* opinions about who deserves the mighty Academy nod of approval. Continue reading
